That still doesn't back up the statement. Nothing backing up the claim in comparison to other Universities. At least this isn't as bad as those talking about Miami's program. I could think quite a few with just as many issues of their own.
If I were taking a guess, without any data...I'd say Ohio State isn't surpassed by many, recently.

Exactly how has Tech been so overrated? They usually finish outside the Top 10 but in the final rankings, and occasionally in the Top 10.
Just about any team from a BCS conference is going to get into the Top 10 (and maybe Top 5 depending on how many other teams are unbeaten at the time) if they start out 6-0 or 7-0 before losing their first game.
I guarantee you in most years, any non-traditional power like Iowa, Texas Tech, Oregon, South Carolina, etc. from a BCS conference is going to crack the Top 10 with six or seven wins to start off if there aren't a whole lot of unbeaten teams. But if they lose once or twice, then why aren't they dubbed just as overrated as VT?
If Tech is so overrated then who are/were they so undeservedly stealing ranking spots from? Like it really matters....rankings don't mean a thing anyway unless it comes to the BCS title game or an at-large BCS bid and the times Tech made the BCS they actually won the conference, so you can't make the argument they stole a berth from someone else.
